First Homecoming
Yesterday was one of Patrick’s niece’s first homecoming dances and I swung by Ritter Park to take a few pictures. Anyone in the Huntington area knows that Ritter Park is the place to go for pre-dance pictures and yesterday was no exception. It was a MADHOUSE because there were at least three homecomings taking place yesterday: Wayne High School, Spring Valley High School, and Huntington High School.
Natasha is a freshman at Wayne High School and meet up with several of her friends at Ritter before the dance. She looked beautiful! After taking some pictures I got out of the madness, but I have to admit it is fun to see all of the pretty dresses and how excited everyone is before their big dance.
Baby J turns 3! | Huntington, WV Event Photography
It’s been a long time since our last post…shame on me! I’ve been busy focusing on a couple other things in addition to AMF. I’m helping plan my high school’s 20th reunion and teaching TWO classes at the local community college this semester. So, it’s been all work for quite a while, but last Sunday I had tons of fun documenting Baby J’s 3rd birthday party!
I had a blast watching everyone have fun at this party, so I know the guests had an awesome time. The party had a fun carnival theme complete with cotton candy and popcorn. In addition to all of the fun games, this party had a special appearance from Spongebob Squarepants…Baby J’s favorite cartoon character. (Thank goodness it wasn’t a clown!) The day started with the threat of rain, but turned out to be an awesome day for birthday fun. Take a look at some of the fun we captured at Baby J’s birthday.
WMUL-FM 50th Anniversary Celebration | Huntington, WV Event Photography
On July 16, 2011, WMUL-FM celebrated its 50th Anniversary! If you’ve ever turned your radio dial to 88.1 FM, you’ve been listening to Marshall University’s student-operated radio station. WMUL-FM has come a long way since it began broadcasting on November 1, 1961 and has become an integral part of Marshall University and the surrounding community. WMUL-FM plays a wide variety of music, ranging from gospel to rock, as well as provides sports and news coverage.
During their celebration, countless WMUL-FM alumni were in attendance as speakers and guests. It was a great afternoon to recognize all the people that have made WMUL-FM a success over the past 50 years. If you want to listen to the award-winning WMUL-FM online, you can visit their website and listen here. Happy Anniversary, WMUL-FM!!
Kristin + Eric: Happy One-Year Anniversary!
Last year on July 3rd, Patrick and I photographed Kristin and Eric’s Wedding in Huntington. It was an intimate wedding of their closest family and friends. Happy one-year anniversary!!
Frank + Carol (Sneak Peek) | Huntington, WV Event Photography
Last Saturday, we spent a great afternoon with Frank, Carol and their families capturing their wedding. It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony at their home followed by a fun-filled reception at Pullman Plaza Hotel where friends and family helped celebrate the couple’s big day.
Some of you may be asking yourself, “I thought they did not do weddings anymore…”. You are mostly right. Last August, Patrick and I decided to stop doing full-day wedding coverage, but still wanted to offer photography for small events of 4 hours or less. This couple booked us for 4 hours–making it a small event, and I’m so glad they did! We had a blast working with them, and want to share a few images from their day:
I love this picture Patrick took of Frank getting ready!
Rockin’ Concert + Great Cause = Awesome Time
Last night, I got to attend the benefit concert for Shriners Hospitals for Children at Huntington High School. The event was organized by a former patient and current HHS student to help raise money for the hospital and all the great things it does for children around the country. We were so happy to be able to help out by donating a portrait package to the raffle drawing along with several other local businesses. Besides being able to help out a great cause, all the folks that attended were treated to a rockin’ concert by 4 Mile, a local band from Southern Ohio. When I say a rockin’ show, I mean a ROCKIN’ show!!! 4 Mile is made up of three young ladies, ages ranging from 11 to 16, but don’t be fooled by the young ages…they were awesome! I had a great time last night and am so grateful to be able to help out with a great cause. Here are a few pictures from last night’s event…and if you get a chance, you should definitely check out 4 Mile next time they perform!
During intermission they held the raffle drawing. You know I had to buy a few tickets, and I won a free lunch from Scholotsky’s!! Glad I didn’t win our own portrait package! hehe

Happy Birthday, Nerissa!
Last weekend, Patrick and I attended the 8th birthday of Miss Nerissa at Roll-a-Rama. It’s been years since I’ve been on roller skates so I played it safe and just took pictures. The birthday girl and her guests had a blast skating and dancing and eating delicious cupcakes. Here are a few images from Nerissa’s birthday bash!
Now you see it, now you don’t…
Big Sis, Natasha, and some friends take a quick break from skating…
Check out the cool trick Nerissa mastered by the end of the day!
Client Update: Congratulations Jacob!
One of the seniors we photographed late last year has some very exciting news! He has signed with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona. Best of luck to you Jacob!

WSAZ Wrestling Invitational
I had the opportunity to shoot some sports action during the WSAZ Wrestling Invitational on Saturday evening in Huntington at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena. I was able to photograph the final match for the 189 lbs. weight class, between Jacob D. from HHS and Tim D. from Commodore Perry, Pa.
I had the pleasure of photographing Jacob’s senior session in September of last year. His parents inquired about getting some photographs of his final wrestling season, and I was happy I could be there to capture some images. It was an exciting match!
Jacob won the match and got first place! Here are a few images from the evening.

All Dressed Up
This post is way out of date, but I’m just getting a chance to catch up with our blogging. I ran into some past clients during the gathering of students at Ritter Park before their homecoming dance on October 18th. Don’t they (and their dates) look great!?

Leah, Happy Sweet 16
On June 29th, we photographed a Sweet 16 birthday party for a local Huntington High student at Holderby’s Landing. Turning 16 is a special milestone birthday, and Leah’s party was definitely one to remember. Food, music, friends, and great weather…what more can you ask for??? How about a car!! It was a very happy sixteenth birthday for Leah.
Here are a few from that night’s party…
