Just because…they’re friends
I’ve been toying with the idea of offering a Friends Session for a while, but needed a couple of test subjects. Evan and Molly came to the rescue! They have been friends for years and were perfect for the session. A couple weeks ago, I met up with Evan and Molly for a quick photo shoot and had a great time photographing them. Meet Austin: Class of 2011 Senior Rep
A little over a week ago, Patrick and I meet up with Austin, our Wayne High School senior rep for his session. It was a late afternoon session in Lavalette. There was the threat of thunderstorms that day, but luck was on our side again and we didn’t get any rain. I found out after the session that Austin doesn’t normally like his picture taken, but I could not tell at all…he was so relaxed and did an awesome job! As you know, the weather has been H-O-T and it was definitely hot during Alyson’s session, but we did get a few breezes that helped cool us off a bit. Meet Jessie: Class of 2011 Senior Rep

Jessie will be a senior at Spring Valley High School and she is a complete natural in front of the camera. Kristin + Eric: Married
Kristin and Eric were married on July 3rd, 2010 in front of an intimate gathering of close friends and family at the Huntington House. We had a great time documenting Kristin and Eric’s special day and meeting some of their family and friends. It turned out that the sister of the Groom was a classmate of mine from elementary school! It is a small world. Patrick and I only spent a couple hours with the couple, but it was clear to see how happy Kristin and Eric make each other. We wish you guys the best!

Krystle & Clark: Married
Krystle and Clark were married on June 26, 2010 at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Charleston, WV. Patrick and I had the pleasure of photographing their special day and being able to share it with some of Krystle and Clark’s family and friends. Meet Anna: Class of 2011 Senior Rep

John + Laura: Portrait Session
On Monday, May 10th, Patrick and I had a great session with John and Laura down in Central City. Laura won a free portrait session with us at the New Baptist Church’s Christmas Corner Bazaar last November. After a long, cold winter, we were finally able to schedule the portrait session with John and Laura. The weather was beautiful on Monday and we definitely took advantage of the situation! Prom Session: Alyssa + Josh
This afternoon, we had the pleasure of photographing Alyssa and Josh before the St. Joseph High School prom. Alyssa also happens to be one of our Class of 2011 Senior Reps, so this was a great chance to get to work with her before her official rep session. Sarah: Portrait Session
Last Tuesday, December 1st, I had a mid-day session with Sarah. Sarah wanted to get some portraits taken before graduation to give her parents as a gift. How nice is that? Sarah graduated from Marshall University last Saturday with her M.S. in Human Resource Management. She received her B.B.A. in Management from Marshall in 2007, and is currently working at Marshall University. That’s how we met, she often comes down to the office I work at to submit new jobs for her department. I had a great time taking Sarah’s portraits, and wish her the very best! We always keep a look out for new contests to keep us moving forward and getting feedback on our images. A Modern Focus recently entered a new wedding photography contest and we would really appreciate your vote. (They do require a valid email address to cast a vote.) This vote goes toward the People’s Choice Award, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the other independent judging too! We entered the candid category with the image below. I just love the moment caught here of the Bride and Groom cleaning up after the cake cutting…she got cake all over the groom’s face.

The Gallion Girls

Daniel: Sneak Peek
On Saturday, November 7th I had the pleasure of photographing Daniel, a senior at Huntington High School. I met Daniel and his mom at Marshall for his session, and enjoyed walking around campus with them talking about his plans after graduation. Daniel is a drummer in HHS’s band which brought back memories for me of Drums Across the Tri-state! I regularly attended Drums Across the Tri-state years ago, and found out that it is now held in Charleston, WV. Here is a sneak peek of a few of my favorites from Daniel’s session. Krystle & Clark: Engagement Session
On Friday, October 30th, Patrick and I shot an engagement session on Marshall’s campus with Krystle and Clark. We had a great time walking around campus and getting to know them a bit better. They are both Marshall alumni and met while volunteering at WMUL, the award-winning university radio station. Here is a sneak peek of some of our favorites from their session.

Ciara: Senior Session
On October 25th, Ciara came down to Huntington for her senior session. We postponed her session from Saturday due to the weather, and I’m so glad we did! Sunday was beautiful!
