First Homecoming
Yesterday was one of Patrick’s niece’s first homecoming dances and I swung by Ritter Park to take a few pictures. Anyone in the Huntington area knows that Ritter Park is the place to go for pre-dance pictures and yesterday was no exception. It was a MADHOUSE because there were at least three homecomings taking place yesterday: Wayne High School, Spring Valley High School, and Huntington High School.
Natasha is a freshman at Wayne High School and meet up with several of her friends at Ritter before the dance. She looked beautiful! After taking some pictures I got out of the madness, but I have to admit it is fun to see all of the pretty dresses and how excited everyone is before their big dance.
Gregg Family Portrait Session
This family might look a little familiar, but something is different. Technically, the cute little addition in the pink dress was at the last portrait session, but she was in her mommy’s belly. I had a great time working with the Gregg family again and was very excited to meet Miss A. Last time, the weather did not cooperate with us, so it was an indoor session but this time around the weather was beautiful! We spent the session outside and captured some family fun. Miss A’s big brother even showed me how he can already write his name! Here are a few images of the adorable Gregg family.

Baby J turns 3! | Huntington, WV Event Photography
It’s been a long time since our last post…shame on me! I’ve been busy focusing on a couple other things in addition to AMF. I’m helping plan my high school’s 20th reunion and teaching TWO classes at the local community college this semester. So, it’s been all work for quite a while, but last Sunday I had tons of fun documenting Baby J’s 3rd birthday party!
I had a blast watching everyone have fun at this party, so I know the guests had an awesome time. The party had a fun carnival theme complete with cotton candy and popcorn. In addition to all of the fun games, this party had a special appearance from Spongebob Squarepants…Baby J’s favorite cartoon character. (Thank goodness it wasn’t a clown!) The day started with the threat of rain, but turned out to be an awesome day for birthday fun. Take a look at some of the fun we captured at Baby J’s birthday.

Frank + Carol (Sneak Peek) | Huntington, WV Event Photography
Last Saturday, we spent a great afternoon with Frank, Carol and their families capturing their wedding. It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony at their home followed by a fun-filled reception at Pullman Plaza Hotel where friends and family helped celebrate the couple’s big day.
Some of you may be asking yourself, “I thought they did not do weddings anymore…”. You are mostly right. Last August, Patrick and I decided to stop doing full-day wedding coverage, but still wanted to offer photography for small events of 4 hours or less. This couple booked us for 4 hours–making it a small event, and I’m so glad they did! We had a blast working with them, and want to share a few images from their day:
I love this picture Patrick took of Frank getting ready!

Doss Family Portrait Session | Sneak Peek
After a couple appointment reschedules, I was excited to finally meet the Doss family yesterday evening. I was also very excited to take my new portable GPS on its first trip! I’m so glad I bought it and now I will feel more comfortable heading out to locations unknown…as long as I have an address to plug into my Garmin (yay!).
Once I successfully arrived, I had a great time walking around their farm capturing images of the growing family. The Doss family are eagerly waiting for Baby ‘B’ to arrive, especially his older sister! Here are a few images from the Doss family session:

Rockin’ Concert + Great Cause = Awesome Time
Last night, I got to attend the benefit concert for Shriners Hospitals for Children at Huntington High School. The event was organized by a former patient and current HHS student to help raise money for the hospital and all the great things it does for children around the country. We were so happy to be able to help out by donating a portrait package to the raffle drawing along with several other local businesses. Besides being able to help out a great cause, all the folks that attended were treated to a rockin’ concert by 4 Mile, a local band from Southern Ohio. When I say a rockin’ show, I mean a ROCKIN’ show!!! 4 Mile is made up of three young ladies, ages ranging from 11 to 16, but don’t be fooled by the young ages…they were awesome! I had a great time last night and am so grateful to be able to help out with a great cause. Here are a few pictures from last night’s event…and if you get a chance, you should definitely check out 4 Mile next time they perform!
During intermission they held the raffle drawing. You know I had to buy a few tickets, and I won a free lunch from Scholotsky’s!! Glad I didn’t win our own portrait package! hehe

Our recent session with Lila, a Huntington High senior, is being featured. Yay! Be sure to check it out and leave a comment!
Benefit Concert featuring 4 Mile
The up-and-coming, local band 4 Mile will be performing a benefit concert to help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children next Friday! It will be a show you don’t want to miss, and an opportunity to give back to an organization that provides much needed services to children around the country. Everyone is invited, and anyone can come! Bring your family AND your friends.
Tickets are $5.00 at the door.
If you need another reason to attend this concert besides the great music and the chance to help a great cause, A Modern Focus is excited to be donating a Portrait Package ($200 value) for the raffle drawing during the Benefit Concert on May 13th! You must attend the concert and purchase a raffle ticket to be entered into the drawing, which will be held during the intermission. The more tickets you buy, the more chances you have to win the portrait package or some of the other prizes being offered!

Friends Session (sneak peek) | Huntington, WV Portrait Photographer
Last Saturday, we met up with Natasha, Natalie and Alli for a mini Friends Session at Ritter Park. It was a beautiful day!! No rain + nice breeze +warm temperatures = awesome weather for a session. Even in the short time I got to spend with the girls, we captured a little bit of how much fun they have hanging out with each other. I’m sure once Summer arrives the fun will really begin! Whether you’re 14 or 40, friendships are something that should be celebrated! Here are a few sneak peek images from their session.
Lila: Class of 2011 | Huntington, WV Senior Portrait Photographer
We recently meet up with Lila, a Huntington High School senior, for an Ultimate Senior Session. Patrick and I had the pleasure of photographing Lila at Saddle Ridge Farm for day one of her portrait session. Even though rain was in the forecast, we managed to finish up the day without feeling a single drop. Lila was so easy to work with and her great personality made our jobs super easy. To see images from both days of Lila’s Ultimate Session head over to AMF Seniors.
CJ: Class of 2011 | Huntington, WV Senior Portrait Photographer
Last weekend, Patrick and I meet CJ for his senior portrait session at Ritter Park. The weather was great! Okay, it was a bit chilly, but we had a great time working with CJ. He is a senior at Cabell Midland high school and will be heading up north this fall to attend WVU. To see more images from CJ’s session, check them out at here.
Congratulations CJ, and enjoy the rest of your year!
