Meet Austin: Class of 2011 Senior Rep
A little over a week ago, Patrick and I meet up with Austin, our Wayne High School senior rep for his session. It was a late afternoon session in Lavalette. There was the threat of thunderstorms that day, but luck was on our side again and we didn’t get any rain. I found out after the session that Austin doesn’t normally like his picture taken, but I could not tell at all…he was so relaxed and did an awesome job! Meet Alyson: Class of 2011 Senior Rep
Meet Alyson, one of our Huntington High School Senior Reps! About two weeks ago, Patrick and I met Alyson for her rep session in Huntington. As you know, the weather has been H-O-T and it was definitely hot during Alyson’s session, but we did get a few breezes that helped cool us off a bit. Refocusing
We will no longer be offering full-day wedding services starting August 15, 2010. We are wanting to focus our attentions on Portraits (HS Seniors, Families, etc.), Small Events, and limited Commercial photography. With that said, if your small event happens to be an intimate wedding we would definitely consider that as a project. The recent wedding of Kristin and Eric would fit under our new focus of small events. If you are not sure if your event would be considered “small”, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information!
We have had a great time with the Brides and Grooms and their families over the last 3 years! We can happily say we never had a bridezilla or anything close, and we want to thank all our past clients for being so great.

April Showers Event
On Saturday, April 24th, Patrick and I had the pleasure of setting up a display at the April Showers event at the Huntington House. The historic house is located at 1349 Sixth Avenue and offers a great location for special events like bridal and baby showers, parties, receptions, and more.

Huntington Mall 2010 Bridal Fair
We’d like to thank everyone that stopped by our table at the Huntington Mall 2010 Spring Bridal Fair on Sunday. Patrick and I had a nice time talking with brides-to-be and their families, as well as fellow vendors. Here are a few pictures from our display:

We always keep a look out for new contests to keep us moving forward and getting feedback on our images. A Modern Focus recently entered a new wedding photography contest and we would really appreciate your vote. (They do require a valid email address to cast a vote.) This vote goes toward the People’s Choice Award, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the other independent judging too! We entered the candid category with the image below. I just love the moment caught here of the Bride and Groom cleaning up after the cake cutting…she got cake all over the groom’s face.

Our First Display
We want to thank everyone that stopped by our table at the Christmas Corner Bazaar on Saturday. Patrick and I had a great time meeting everyone and checking out the other vendors handmade goods. We’d also like to congratulate Laura B. who won the free portrait session! We look forward to working with her and her husband.
Christmas Corner Bazaar
Today we will be at the Christmas Corner Bazaar at the New Baptist Church, 610 28th Street in Huntington, WV, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Stop by and see us! We are giving away a free portrait session to one lucky winner, but you must come by our table to enter the drawing. You will also be able to knock out some Christmas shopping! There are vendors selling homemade soaps, lotions, jewelry and much more!
Time off for the Holidays
A Modern Focus will be closed during the holidays to spend time with family and friends. AMF will be closed during the following dates:

Christmas: Dec. 21 – Jan. 3

Two years this month!
Patrick and I made this part-time business official in July of 2007. It was on July 3rd to be exact, and we shot our first wedding as AMF on 7-7-07. Now that we are entering our second year, it is time for us to review our business plan and update our business goals and pricing. I may even throw out a little marketing, who knows! We entered a few photography contests recently and tonight I decided to check in on one…and was very pleasantly surprised to see one of our pictures made the finals! We entered the 2009 Professional Wedding Photography Contest being held by the Wedding Photography Directory. The internal pre-selection was completed on March 25th and now the finalists are open to public voting. There were 3,000 entries, which were narrowed down to 100! The image below is our entry.
