Yesterday was one of Patrick’s niece’s first homecoming dances and I swung by Ritter Park to take a few pictures. Anyone in the Huntington area knows that Ritter Park is the place to go for pre-dance pictures and yesterday was no exception. It was a MADHOUSE because there were at least three homecomings taking place yesterday: Wayne High School, Spring Valley High School, and Huntington High School.
Natasha is a freshman at Wayne High School and meet up with several of her friends at Ritter before the dance. She looked beautiful! After taking some pictures I got out of the madness, but I have to admit it is fun to see all of the pretty dresses and how excited everyone is before their big dance.

This family might look a little familiar, but something is different. Technically, the cute little addition in the pink dress was at the last portrait session, but she was in her mommy’s belly. I had a great time working with the Gregg family again and was very excited to meet Miss A. Last time, the weather did not cooperate with us, so it was an indoor session but this time around the weather was beautiful! We spent the session outside and captured some family fun. Miss A’s big brother even showed me how he can already write his name! Here are a few images of the adorable Gregg family.

We are super excited to have one of our senior portrait sessions featured on Inside the Locker again! Inside the Locker is a great site to get tips and inspiration about senior portrait photography. This time around they are featuring our session with Josh, one of our Class of 2011 senior reps. Head on over and check it out. Oh and if you missed the previous post about us on ITL the first time around, you should check out Lila’s session also.

It’s been a long time since our last post…shame on me! I’ve been busy focusing on a couple other things in addition to AMF. I’m helping plan my high school’s 20th reunion and teaching TWO classes at the local community college this semester. So, it’s been all work for quite a while, but last Sunday I had tons of fun documenting Baby J’s 3rd birthday party!
I had a blast watching everyone have fun at this party, so I know the guests had an awesome time. The party had a fun carnival theme complete with cotton candy and popcorn. In addition to all of the fun games, this party had a special appearance from Spongebob Squarepants…Baby J’s favorite cartoon character. (Thank goodness it wasn’t a clown!) The day started with the threat of rain, but turned out to be an awesome day for birthday fun. Take a look at some of the fun we captured at Baby J’s birthday.

We want to thank everyone that stopped by to discussed photography and post images on our Facebook page during World Photography Day today! Photography is one of the art forms that I think everyone can enjoy. I know some people say they “couldn’t take a picture to save their life”, but at its core, photography allows people to stop time and capture a moment or a person and it doesn’t have to be perfectly composed or even in total focus if you ask me. So, stop thinking you can’t take a picture and just take one…you may be pleasantly surprised.
Here’s a run down of what we posted on our page, and I hope you get a chance to check out some of these photographers and information about photography. The winner of the $25 Applebees gift card was Derek G. – Congrats and thanks for taking the time to post a picture on our wall today!
On August 19th 1839, the French government announced photography as “a gift to the free world”.

Here’s one last fun photo post for World Photo Day! There is an on-going “debate” over are you a Nikon or a Canon user (similar to mac vs. pc) and this is a funny video from the awesome young photog, Joey Lawrence.
Until next year!

This month has been pretty busy, so I haven’t had a chance to post this until now…A Modern Focus has been around for four years! A Modern Focus became an official business on July 3, 2007, and has been slowly growing its client base ever since. Patrick and I both have full-time jobs, so A Modern Focus is a part-time business that keeps things fun and interesting. We want to thank all of our past clients for choosing us as their photographers and designers. Being able to work with a variety of people is one of the reasons that I wanted to start A Modern Focus in the first place! We are looking forward to continuing to meet and work with new folks in the coming years.
Patrick and I would like to let you know that we will be participating in the Back to School Fair at the Huntington Mall on August 6th. We would LOVE for you to stop by and see us during the event to ask questions, check out some of our product samples and see our work! You will also be able to enter a drawing for a free portrait package at our table. Yes, you read that right…a FREE portrait package, which will include one hour of on-location photography and a $100 print credit. Hope to see you there!
